Notices for the week 20th June 2010

Dave Perry RIP
Dave died at home on Thursday morning, with Iris beside him. He has been receiving nursing care for several weeks at home and the family - their three children and grand children - have been with him every day. Please pray for Iris and all the family at this time.
We give thanks for a faithful Christian and a committed member of St Joseph's who never sought the limelight, but was always dependable and  'behind the scenes'. Dave will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Dave's funeral will be on Thursday July 1st, 11am at St Joseph's, followed by a short committal for family at Breakspear Crematorium. However, everyone is warmly invited to go straight from church to the Royal Naval Association Club at Hillingdon Circus (opposite the Old Master Brewer Hotel) afterwards for refreshments

Household items for sale
As we prepare to move to New Zealand we will be selling a number of items, including electrical 'white goods', a motor mower, wicker storage baskets and garden equipment. If you are interested in having the list of what we're selling, please speak to Simon or Lizzi Winn

Steve and Caroline's Ordination
We would love for people to come to our Ordination. It takes place at St Paul's Cathedral on 3 July. Doors open at 2, but you might want to get there a bit earlier to make sure of a good seat. St Joseph's has been very special to us and we'd love you to come and share the day with us. You are really welcome to pop in for a drink and some food straight afterwards at The Saint in Paternoster Square, right next to the Cathedral.

*Please sign the farewell/ordination cards for Steve Morris and Caroline Newbold from St Joseph's members today.

Travel to the St Paul's Ordination Service:  If you would like to travel together as a group to St Paul's on Saturday 3rd July, please meet at 1pm in the ticket hall of Northolt tube station. See you there! Ray Johnson

Prayers for our Ordinands
Please pray for Steve Morris and Caroline Newbold who are being ordained as Deacons on Saturday July 3rd, by the Bishop of London, to serve as curates at St Stephen’s, Ealing and St Matthew’s, Yiewsley respectively, and for our recent summer placement student Martin Allwood, being ordained Deacon on Sunday June 27th by the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, to serve as curate in the Hundred River and Wainford benefice near Beccles in Suffolk. Also Toby Crowe, our former parish assistant, being ordained as a priest by the Bishop of Willesden on Saturday July 3rd.

Thank you for all your cards, phone calls and prayers over the last few months and especially this last week.
Chris, Christopher and Nick

SING Summer Activities
We wanted to update everyone about what is being planned for Soul in Northolt and Greenford summer activities weeks. Our main 'Soul' Week will be on the week beginning 9th August. We have a week of dance, sports, crafts and other activities planned such as birds of prey, circus skills and drum workshops.
This year for the first time we are planning to provide something every week during August. Based on requests from the young people, we are also running a Film Week on the week beginning 2nd August, Girls Only Week of fashion, self defence and modelling beginning the 16th August and Lads Only Week from the 23rd with big boy's toys & rugby. We are looking forward to these activities and hope that you will enjoy being a part of them in many ways. Look out for more information in the coming months. Chris

100 Club Renewal deadline 31st of July
Please note, in order to avoid complexity with renewal no new applications will be accepted after this date. The new year begins on the first Sunday in August with subsequent Prize Draws on the first Sunday of each month. First Prize £15 and Second Prize £10. Twelve opportunities to win. The 100 Club is part of our drive to raise £10k internally towards the £2.8m required to refurbish our church. The renewal / application forms are available in the Dovetail Centre. It is hoped that all existing members will renew their membership. Subscription is £12 a year. We need 100 members. If you are not a member but would like to support our fundraising then please complete the application form and return it by 31 July deadline. Friends and families may also join. For more information, please speak to Randolph Reid, Susan Duah or Audrey Fleischer. We can only continue the 100 Club if we attain a viable level of membership, so please support it. Thank you The Fundraising Team.

A Message from the Newbold family
Pam Newbold died peacefully on Sunday 13th June.  Her funeral will take place on Monday 28th June at 11am here at St Joseph’s Church – there is no need to wear black.  Family flowers only, but should you wish to make a donation in Pam’s memory there will be a collection on the day to be divided between the British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Relief Steve Newbold

Back on the pilgrimage road
As part of my letting go of ministry responsibilities here and in the Willesden Area, as I prepare to move on, I shall be back on the pilgrim road later this week. I am walking another seven days with friends on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in northern Spain, this year from Burgos to Leon. I’d be grateful of your prayers as I shall be holding you in mine. With love, Simon
