Notices for this week 11th July 2010
Congratulations to Sandy Reed
With the support of the PCC, Sandy was nominated for selection for training as a Licensed Lay Minister (London Diocese's new name for Readers) for our parish. Sandy attended a selection panel last month and this week we heard that she has been accepted to train. The course will be part time, running for three years from September. Well done, Sandy!
Congratulations to Chris Hill
Chris, our youth project senior worker, has been going through the thorough and testing process of discernment of his vocation with the Willesden Area and was recently recommended for training as a Church of England priest. If continuation funding is found for his post, Chris plans to study for two years at St Paul's Theological Centre in London, while continuing to work in this parish. Please pray for Chris and Rachel as he embarks on this exciting next stage of his ministry in God's Church.
Day Visitors to New Wine – Last Chance Today!
Those who are going to New Wine as Day Visitors on Thursday 29th July will be leaving St Joseph’s at 7.00am and will be back in Northolt around midnight. We only have a few spaces left, so today is your last chance for us to book it for you at a reduced cost. After today, anyone else wishing to go will need to pay £25.00 and book it themselves through the New Wine website www.new-wine.org Chris Hill and Simon.
Farewells to church members
We have recently said farewell, thank you and wished God's blessings on Becky Reid, who has moved to a new home in Thame, Oxfordshire, with her husband. Also Sarah Symons and her family, have moved to Buckinghamshire. Please pray for them all as they settle in new communities and join their local churches.
Thank You
Sue, Wendy and Steve are grateful to everyone from St Joseph’s for your love, support and care over these past few weeks since the death of our Mum, Pam Newbold. Thank you too to everyone who came to Mum’s funeral and a special thank you to all those who helped with the practical arrangements for the service and refreshments. Over £300 was collected at the service and this will be sent, in Pam’s memory, to the British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support.
SING Summer Activities - WE NEED YOU!!
This year for the first time we are providing something every week during August.
Our main 'Soul' Week is the week beginning 9th August. We have a week of dance, sports, crafts and other activities planned such as birds of prey, circus skills and drum workshops.
Based on requests from the young people, we are running a Film Week on the week beginning 2nd August, Girls Only Week of fashion, self defence and modelling beginning the 16th August and Lads Only Week from the 23rd with big boy's toys & rugby.
We are looking forward to these activities and hope that you will want to be part of them. There are sign up sheets available in the centre giving details of all the different ways that you can volunteer. Please place your completed sign up sheet in the SING pigeonhole as soon as possible. Chris

The new year begins on the first Sunday in August with subsequent Prize Draws on the first Sunday of each month. First Prize £15 and Second Prize £10. Twelve opportunities to win. The 100 Club is part of our drive to raise £10k internally towards the £2.8m required to refurbish our church. The renewal / application forms are available in the Dovetail Centre. It is hoped that all existing members will renew their membership. Subscription is £12 a year. We need 100 members. If you are not a member but would like to support our fundraising then please complete the application form and return it by 31 July deadline. Friends and families may also join. For more information, please speak to Randolph Reid, Susan Duah or Audrey Fleischer. We can only continue the 100 Club if we attain a viable level of membership, so please support it. Thank you The Fundraising Team.
