Notices for this week 25th July 2010
Simon's final sermon here on July 18th focused on Genesis 18: 1-10a; Colossians 1: 15-28; Luke 10: 38-42 and he spoke about the challenges facing the local church. He encouraged St Joseph's to be a Christian community that mixes action with contemplation, makes time to be in God's presence and to listen to God, acknowledging his presence and holiness, and celebrating his glory; a church that practises generous hospitality, and people who are confident that the gospel is good news for our community and truly live as people who want to share that. "There lies our future – you and me – though the miles will separate us."
Willesden Area news
With Bishop Pete Broadbent now spending six months as interim Bishop of Stepney (the eastern part of London Diocese), the Willesden Episcopal Area is being led by Archdeacon Rachel Treweek, supported by the Rev Andrew Corsie as Assistant Archdeacon. Both Rachel and Andrew will be closely involved in the selection of a new vicar for St Joseph's in the autumn. A new Area Dean of Ealing is to be announced soon, and our sub-dean for parishes in Perivale, Northolt and Greenford remains the Rev Tricia Hillas. Please pray for all of those in leadership in our Area and Deanery at this challenging time.
THANK YOU Iris, Geraldine, Andrew and Michael wish to say a heartfelt 'thank you' to all at St. Joseph's for the wonderful love and support given to us all in these last few weeks, and to say that the presence of so many of you at Dave's funeral warmed all of our hearts. Dave would have wished for nothing more than the way everyone rallied round us all at this time and I know he is giving us his wonderful enigmatic smile whenever we all gather at church. God bless you all and THANK YOU. To date £1000.00 has been collected for Michael Sobell House, with more donations to come!!!!

The new year begins on the first Sunday in August with subsequent Prize Draws on the first Sunday of each month. First Prize £15 and Second Prize £10. Twelve opportunities to win. The 100 Club is part of our drive to raise £10k internally towards the £2.8m required to refurbish our church. The renewal / application forms are available in the Dovetail Centre. The Fundraising Team.
Saturday Lunches
Due to a lack of volunteers to cook lunches it has become increasingly difficult to keep them going even twice a month. So it was with regret that the PCC decided at its last meeting to stop the lunches completely, with immediate effect.
I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the PCC, to say a big thank you to all those who have volunteered in any way with the Saturday Lunches and Coffee Shop over the years.

During the summer holidays our Sunday Parish Eucharist will be a shorter all age service, and our theme is the Parables Jesus Told. Here are the parables. Why not read them in advance each week, with your children, and discuss them, to enable you to engage more deeply with the preacher's message?

Sunday August 8th 3. Parable of the Mustard Seed and Yeast Matthew 13: 31-33

Ruth Chapman RIP My dear Christian family, what a strength you are. Thank you again for all your support and also for helping to sort/clear my mums ‘clutter’ with love. I am learning so much about bereavement. Your prayers are still needed by me and all those bereaved in our church. The donations received in Mum’s memory for WSPA was £750. Other monies have also been donated to Norfolk Boxer Rescue, Norfolk Hospice, RSPCA, Children’s Home, Mayhew Home Animal Trust, Cancer Research and the PDSA. Thank you for attending the funeral, even with a power cut, also thank you as well for the beautiful flowers. Last night in my dreams ‘the Beatitudes’ kept coming to mind, yes we are so blessed. God Bless, Sandy
